LARS, low anterior resection syndrome; b, regression coefficient; OR, odds ratio; CI, confidence interval; df, degree of freedom; LAR, low anterior resection; CCRT, concurrent chemoradiotherapy.
b Rectum is divided into 3 parts which are upper, middle, and lower rectum in accordance to distance from the anal verge. Low rectum is 4 to 8 cm, middle rectum is 8 to 12 cm whereas upper rectum is 12 to 15 cm from the anal verge. The management of rectal tumor is according to these 3 parts where tumor in middle and lower rectum need a neoadjuvant CCRT before definitive surgery.
